My Vision for Oceanside!

Imagine an Oceanside for all Osiders. From our fishing pier, surf, and wide sandy beaches through a walkable downtown, stretching from the harbor at one end to South O on the other, connected by a modern hub of alternative modes of transportation. Entertainment for locals and tourists alike. A network of safe bike paths throughout our city. Micro-transit that goes from our downtown to the farthest points east, connecting all Osiders to the Old San Luis Rey Mission, OHS, ECHS, Mira Costa Community College, El Corazon Park, Melba Bishop Park, Mance Buchanon Park, Guajome Park, TCMC and business/retail centers. Transit that completes connectivity to all Oceanside – access for all.

Imagine families getting to work and to school using public transportation, with a variety of skilled, livable wage jobs within Oceanside or very close by. Families living in homes they can afford. Open spaces like El Corazon Park to enjoy active and passive sports. Visiting vineyards and coffee farms with tasting rooms near The Sleeping Indian at South Morro Hills and other agri-tourism destination places.

Imagine a citizenry actively participating in its transparent government. Residents actively addressing and resolving neighborhood concerns via participation on boards and commissions.

Imagine enjoying all of this within the rich cultural diversity of our City of Oceanside, where we enjoy cultural institutions like the Oceanside Museum of Art, California Surf Museum, the Brooks Theatre, Oceanside Public Library, and annual cultural celebrations like Fil-Am Cultural Celebration, Juneteenth, LGBTQ Pride, Samoan Cultural Celebration, San Luis Rey Intertribal Pow Wow, Noche Mexicana and Dia de los Muertos all through music, art, dance, history, food, and just good ole’ Oside Pride.

Imagine doing all of this in a safe, clean and green environment, using fossil-free energy and local water resources like Oceanside Pure Water.

All of this is attainable for all Oceansiders.

The future we envision together as a community requires strong, Leadership firmly rooted in its history, with a vision of a future that stays true to its community character.

I am running for re-election to Oceanside Mayor, and I respectfully ask for your vote, to continue to fight for our community. Thank you!

Esther, “The People’s Mayor”
